Milky Way over the Torlesse Range

The skies over the Castle Hill Basin can be awesomely clear for star-gazing, even with a little bit of light pollution spilling over the Torlesse Range from Christchurch.

  1. Great shot Conor. These sorts of shots always make me feel utterly insignificant on this planet. Out of interest, I wonder what difference to this shot it would make if you tried a crop without the village at the bottom?

    1. Thanks Simon, I took one the other direction towards the Craigieburn Range (in silhouette) and it just wasn’t that interesting. I know the lights ended up a little blown out, but still preferred the shot with them in.
